After school programming provides a balance of supervised free play and structured activities that include art, sports, music, STEM and nature exploration, indoor and outdoor games and homework support. Each week has a new theme, carefully designed by our After School Director. Sample themes include: Zoology, Kinetic Arts & Crafts, The Science of Sugar and Digital Movie Making.
After school programming runs from 3:15-5:30 pm. Families have flexibility to sign up for as many days of after school children care as needed (1,2,3,4 or 5 days/week).
Vermont Day School offers after school art enrichment classes through our partnership with Davis Art Studio. After school art classes are open to all students in the community (not just Vermont Day School students!). Current offerings include a Clay Construction class on Thursday afternoons for students in grades K-5.
As part of FIRST Lego League, Jr., we offer an after school Lego robotics club. Students learn how to program Lego creations using the Lego WeDo platform. This year’s teams participated in the international FIRST Lego League, Jr. challenge.
Ready, Set, Run!
The Ready, Set, Run! Mini Milers program encourages participants to establish fitness goals and practice good nutrition and sportsmanship in a fun and safe environment. With the support of experienced coaches, each participant tracks mileage and earns incentives as they strive towards their individual running goals. Mini Milers will participate in the Ready, Set, Run! Festival at the Burlington Waterfront in May.
