We are delighted you are considering Vermont Day School for your child. If you would like to apply, we ask that you do the following:
1. Learn about our school
Attend an informational event, look over our website, or contact us to set up a phone call. We are happy to answer questions about our school, and work with you to decide if Vermont Day School is the right learning environment for your child. Please complete an admissions inquiry form.
In addition, prospective Families are invited to upcoming admissions events:
- Spring Open House on Saturday, April 4th. Prospective families with PreK-8th grade children are invited to visit Vermont Day School to tour the school, meet teachers and parents, and learn how VDS will make a meaningful difference in your child’s education!
- Middle School Visit Morning on Friday, May 1st. Rising 6th-8th graders are invited to attend Vermont Day School for a morning to attend classes, meet friends & teachers, and experience VDS first hand!

2. Complete an Application Form
- Digital Application Form. This link will take you through the process of creating a VDS Admissions Account and submitting an application form online. The $60 application fee is payable online at the end of the application form.
3. Submit Teacher Recommendation Form and Progress Reports
Once you have submitted an application form, you will see a link in your VDS Admissions Account to submit a teacher recommendation form to your child’s current or most recent teacher. In some cases, we may request your permission to speak with your child’s teachers directly.
We also ask that you submit the most recent progress reports from your child’s pre-school/school. These may be uploaded directly into your VDS Admissions Account.
4. Student Meeting and/or Assessment
Once we have received your child’s application, recommendation forms, and the application fee, we will schedule a visit with you and your student. On the day of the visit, for 1st-8th graders, we will also administer a brief educational assessment to help us with placement for literacy and math, should your child enroll at our school. Kindergarten applicants will be invited to attend a Kindergarten visiting morning.
Application Deadlines
For the 2026-2027 school year, the first round of applications were due February 15, 2026 for K-8. Currently, we are accepting applications on a rolling basis, as space allows. Please reach out to us to discuss your application!
Admission to our PreK Program is on a rolling basis. Priority is given to applications in the order they are received.
Please refer to the Checklist in your online Admissions Account to be sure that you have submitted all the necessary information to complete your child’s application.
Enrollment
Admissions decisions are posted in your VDS Admissions Account and sent via email. You will be asked to log into your VDS Admissions Account to complete your enrollment contract and pay your deposit. To secure your child’s spot at Vermont Day School for the upcoming school year, we ask that you return the completed enrollment contract and a non-refundable $500 deposit (applied towards tuition) within one week of acceptance.
