The Gingerbread Structure Competition has been a VDS tradition for many years. It is a festive way to celebrate the season, foster creativity and community. We hope that your VDS family will participate!
Here’s what you need to know:
- This year’s theme is: Love Local! Participants are invited to create a gingerbread structure that represents a local business or organization in Shelburne.
- To sign up, please use this online form to choose a local Sheburne business to recreate.
- Structures need to be transported to Vermont Day School by December 18th for judging.
- After they are judged, the structures will be on display at the Pierson Library for the community to enjoy!
Competition Rules:
- Structure bases should be no larger than 12” x 16”.
- All bases should be made of sturdy material such as plywood or foam board. If your structure has lights, please use a battery pack. Structures should be entirely edible, except for the bases and lights (no glue!).
- There are 2 categories: Children Only (which means that only children 12 years or younger worked on the structure) and Family (which means that children and adults worked on the structure).
- Prizes will be awarded in each category for: Most Creative Use of Materials, Most Unique Interpretation of the Theme, Most Innovative Structure and Best Overall.
