Cross-Country
Vermont Day School has offered a Middle School cross-country team in the fall. Runners practice off campus on trails in the area and participate in local meets with other schools. The emphasis is on building endurance and speed, learning techniques and etiquette for trail running, and developing a passion for running in the outdoors with friends.
Bolton Ski & Ride
From January through March, K-8 students have the opportunity to participate in the Bolton Ski & Rdie program after school on Thursday afternoons. Parent drivers transport students from VDS to Bolton to ski and snowboard from 4:00 pm. Students have the opportunity to take lessons or rent equipment through Bolton.
Ultimate Frisbee
In the Spring, Vermont Day School has offered an Ultimate Frisbee team. Ultimate Frisbee is an upcoming sport in Vermont and a fun way to develop sportsmanship, endurance, strength and speed! Students learn strategy and the basics of the game, including throwing, catching, movement and defense.
Running Club
Our younger students have the opportunity to participate in the Mini Milers program through Run Vermont. This program encourages participants to establish fitness goals and practice good nutrition and sportsmanship in a fun and safe environment. With the support of experienced coaches, each participant tracks mileage and earns incentives as they strive towards their individual running goals. Runners participate in the kids races the day before the Vermont City Marathon in May.
Additional Athletic Opportunities
Some Vermont Day School students participate in the athletic programs at the public schools in their town. In the past we have had students participate in Track and Field, Softball and Soccer through their local public school. Permission to participate is granted by the public school, and we are happy to assist with the process.
