“We the People” iMovies
As part of their investigation into the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens, the 4/5 class at Vermont Day School created iMovies for students from Vermont Adult Learning. Many of the students are newly resettled in Vermont, traveling from countries in Africa, SE Asia, and the Middle East, and are eager to learn about their new country, and pass a citizenship test. The 4/5s researched through primary and secondary sources, learning stations, and webquests in order to become experts on the subject. Here they are presenting their iMovies to their parents, and teachers from Vermont Adult Learning.
November 9- Community Coffee & Project-Based Learning Talk (9 am)
Please join us for morning coffee (Friday, November 9th at 9 am) and an opportunity to learn about project-based learning! The informational talk will be co-led by Sage Bagnato, Head of School, and Erin Capps, Curriculum Coordinator and 4/5 Teacher. Project-based learning is a unique approach to curriculum design that challenges learners to participate in their own learning by asking them to investigate a relevant and complex question or problem. The benefits of PBL are far-reaching and well documented by research. Come to this talk to learn more! RSVPs kindly requested to Libby Macdonald (lmacdonald@vtdayschool.org).
