The Vermont Day School Valentine’s Postal Service is now open for business! As part of their year long study of Community, the K/1 class is learning about the different roles that people and organizations play within a town/city community. Each student has a zip code and the K/1 students are responsible for sorting the mail each day. On Friday, they will deliver the mail to each student during our school-wide Valentine’s celebration. There is lots of learning and excitement in the air!

K/1 Class Unveils School Birthday Calendar
As part of their year-long study of Community, the K/1 class is now focusing on what it means to be a school community. Their culminating project was to create a birthday calendar to showcase in our school lunchroom. This required them to learn the months of the year, interview classmates and teachers to find out their birthdays, graph the birthdays according to month, and design and create the actual birthday board. Not only did they create a wonderful product, but they also learned a lot about problem-solving and collaboration along the way. Way to go K/1s!

January 13th- K-3 to See Le Patin Libre Performance
On January 13th, the K/1 and 2/3 classes will be going to the Leddy Park to see “Le Patin Libre.” The description of this exciting performance is below:
“Founded by professional figure skaters who loved the ice but hated the industry’s kitsch and sparkles, Canada’s Le Patin Libre (The Free Skate) have created something completely unique by blending modern dance, hip-hop, breakdance, and the high-speed thrill of professional skating. The attitude and energy of street dance combine with the soul and structure of contemporary dance and the tools and panache of an Olympic sport. The group exists in the exciting medium between dance, sport, and play and expands their medium into a refined performance art form. We’re looking forward to venturing out to Leddy Park for then Flynn’s first on-ice performance.”
