On November 3rd, the K/1 will venture to the Flynn Center to see Adventure Theatre’s production of the beloved book, Caps for Sale, by Esphyr Slobodkina. Student matinee is at 12 pm. Get ready for some serious monkey business!
Teachers participate in SmartBoard training
For our October Professional Development Day, a representative from Valley Communications held a training for our faculty on integrating Smartboards with learning and teaching. We learned a lot of new tools and are excited to continue to use our Smartboards to promote student learning and engagement.
K/1 class studies tree ecology
As part of their year long study about Communities, the K/1 class is currently engaged in a project-based unit on Tree Ecology. These budding ecologists each adopted a tree in our school yard, and have been learning about what trees need to grow. Lots of opportunities to connect this learning with their concurrent Family Tree exploration in Global Studies!
October 14th – Parent Committee Meeting
All parents welcome to attend our first parent committee meeting of the year at 8:15 am on Wednesday, October 14th. We will begin to plan all school events and celebrations, discuss fundraising and set goals for the year. Looking forward to seeing you then!
October 8th- SmartBoard Training for Teachers. No school for students
Our teachers will be participating in a SmartBoard training on this day. There is no school for students.
October 9th- Parent/Teacher Conferences. No school for students
We look forward to meeting with you for your child’s fall parent/teacher conference! This is an opportunity to discuss goals for the year, learn about your child’s progress thus far, and ask questions. Teachers will email you a sign-up sheet for conference times.

September 15th- International Dot Day
Based on the book, The Dot, by Peter Reynolds, International Dot Day is “a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration.” Along with students in 108 countries, Vermont Day School students will participate in Dot Day activities in literacy and art.
