It was recently CLIC week at VDS! CLIC stands for Create, Learn, Innovate, and Celebrate. CLIC week is a unique opportunity for VDS students to engage in a whole school project that fosters critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication. For this CLIC week, we are thrilled to work with King Arthur Baking Company! King Arthur is a Vermont based Certified B corporation with a commitment to quality, sustainability and equity. Read more about the company’s history and impact here.
Given to us by King Arthur, the authentic challenge that students addressed was: How can we attract more young people to bake? Each class approached this question in a variety of developmentally appropriate ways. Younger classes focused on marketing, design and product development, while older classes added additional layers to incorporate topics, such as food justice and sustainable baking. Every class had an opportunity for a field trip, and of course, baking!
At the end of the week, students presented their ideas (virtually) to Molly Lawrence, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at King Arthur Baking Company. We are grateful to King Arthur for partnering with us on this project.
