January 17 – VDS MLK Jr. Day of Service
More to come about this year’s community partner. MLK Jr. Day is a day “on” for VDS students!
November 15-19 – Fall CLIC Week
CLIC Week (Create, Learn, Innovate and Celebrate) is an all-school event during which students participate in a project with a unified theme. They are unique to Vermont Day School and take place three times a year in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
Past CLIC Week projects have included:
- Compost Creation: Working with the Education Coordinator from Chittenden Solid Waste District to build a compost bin and create a school-wide compost system.
- Snowboard Design: Partnering with Burton Snowboards to re-design and improve snowboard prototypes.
- Musical Play Production: Learning music and choreography for an all school play, in addition to designing the costumes and building the set.
- Green Chemistry: Partnering with Seventh Generation to create a line of sustainable household products for youth.
- Fair Trade: Working with Lake Champlain Chocolates to develop educational materials to teach others about the importance of fair trade certification.
- Pints with a Purpose: Partnering with Ben and Jerry’s to develop a new ice cream flavor that promotes an environmental or social issue.
- Farm to Table: Creating a farm to table experience from start to finish, including harvesting the vegetables from a local farm, visiting The Guild Tavern to learn from their Chef and creating recipes with fresh and local ingredients.
November 30 – Giving Tuesday
December 1 – 4/5 Class Play
We are excited to announce that we have created a completely original play with the grade 4/5 students. We are working on lines, characters, on the creation of props and set! They can’t wait to perform it for students and parents!
December 1-16 – VDS Food Drive (moved to Jan)
Each year the 4/5 class manages the food drive for Vermont Day School. All the food is donated to the Shelburne Food Shelf. In years past we have set goals and achieved more than 1,000 lbs of food donated. Thank you for your support and participation. ![]()

December 10- Gingerbread Festival

The Gingerbread Festival and Structure Competition has been a VDS tradition for many years. It is a festive way to celebrate the season and to foster creativity and community. We hope that your family will participate! This year’s Gingerbread Fest will take place on Friday, December 10th.

October 28 – Info Session in Weybridge

Addison County: Local Opportunity to Learn about Vermont Day School
Thinking about school options for your child? Join us for a casual information session to learn about Vermont Day School on Thursday, October 28th @ 5:30 pm at the home of current VDS parents, Sam Prouty and Melissa Kobelin. The conversation will take place outdoors, and all attendees are asked to wear masks and socially distance.

Grandparents and Special Friends are important members of the Vermont Day School community. You are partners in supporting your grandchildren and special students as they learn and grow here at Vermont Day School. There are many ways for you to be involved and we welcome you!
Grandparents & Special Friends Day
Save the Date: Thursday, October 21, 2021
Please join us for this annual event just for you! This year, due to COVID, we will provide a few options to connect:
Virtual Grandparents Day Visit ( Time TBD)
Log in to ZOOM from your home and join your grandchild in their classroom. Hear from their classroom teacher and participate in a virtual activity.
Grandparents & Special Friends Gathering (Time TBD)
Join us for an informal gathering, outdoors and in person, on Grandparents’ & Special Friends day. We will have a small outdoor tent with hot cider and donuts. Meet other grandparents & special friends and greet your student(s) on the playground at pick-up time. After school tours will be available. This event is weather dependent. R.S.V.P required.
Small Group Tours
We can’t wait to show you our new building and our classrooms! See the school in action on a small (4 person max) group tour. Tours will be offered at 9am Monday, Wednesday, & Friday during the week of October 18th. Sign up ahead of time to reserve a spot.
