January 12 – MLK, Jr. Day Service Projects
In honor of MLK, Jr. Day, Vermont Day School is partnering with two local organizations for community service projects. PreK-3rd grade students will make baked goods, home made cards and soap for the guests at the Ronald McDonald House in Burlington. The 4th-8th grade will visit Wake Robin in Shelburne to perform some excepts from their upcoming Annie, Jr. musical. We look forward to helping out our community members!
Winter Concert Music & A Time to Gather
On December 7th, the VDS Community gathered for our annual Winter Concert event at the beautiful Shelburne Town Hall. All students in PreK-8th grade performed musical pieces that they had rehearsed this Fall, and we heard a debut from our Middle School band! The music was accompanied by inspiring messages of peace, hope and light for the winter season ahead!
VDS Lego League Team Competes
On December 2nd, the VDS Lego League Team competed in the regional FIRST Lego League event to showcase their coding and robotics skills. The team placed 16th overall, out of 29 total teams. Congratulations to VDS team members: Felix Frenzen, Will Lanoue, Theo Gonyaw, Henry Schmitt and Emily Lanoue!
December 15 – Gingerbread Festival!
The VDS annual Gingerbread Festival is coming up on Friday, December 15th from 3:00-4:00 pm. This year’s theme: “Imagine the Future.” Come view the creative houses and enjoy treats with the VDS Community – hope to see you there!
December 20 – VDS Ski Club Parent Meeting
On Wednesday, December 20th, parents are invited to an informational meeting to learn more about the VDS Ski Program at Bolton Valley. VDS will run an after school ski/ride program at Bolton on Thursday afternoons from January to March. Check the newsletter for more information and come to our meeting to learn more! December 22 – Half Day & Pajama Day!
On December 22nd, VDS will have a half day of school; school will dismiss at 12:00 pm for 4th-8th grade and 12:15 pm for PreK – 3rd grade. Get cozy! It is also pajama day!
December 23 – January 1 – Winter Vacation
Vermont Day School is closed from December 23- January 1 for our Winter Vacation. Wishing our community a safe and joyous holiday season! We look forward to seeing your students again when school resumes on January 2.

VDS Apparel Store Now Open
Show your school spirit with VDS Apparel! Be sure to visit the VDS Apparel store before November 18th, as the store closes on this day. All items will arrive to VDS by mid-December. VDS merchandise makes great holiday gifts!
November 13-17 – Fall CLIC Week & Winter Clothing Swap
Fall CLIC Week is coming up! CLIC week is an acronym that stands for “Create, Learn, Innovate and Celebrate.” All students participate in a project with a unified theme. Past projects have included building a compost system for VDS, painting a mural with local artist Phoebe Lo and designing mosaic signs for our school. Stay tuned for details regarding this Fall’s CLIC week plans!
This week, the 8th grade leadership is also hosting a winter clothing swap! Please bring in winter clothing and boots that you are ready to give away. All donations will be displayed in the VDS front hall. Come take a look and see if there is anything that your family can use this season. All leftover items will be donated to Goodwill.
