Upcoming Events

All parents are invited to join us for the first Friday Parent Coffee of the school year on Friday, September 4th after morning drop off (8:00/8:15 am). Enjoy a cup of coffee and casual conversation with VDS staff and fellow parents!

The STEM class is adventuring out on their first field trip of the school year with a visit to the La Platte Nature Area in Shelburne on Friday, September 4th. This will be a fitting kick-off for their exploration into the state of Vermont during STEM and Global Studies!

Wednesday, September 9th is the first meeting of the school year for the VDS FIRST Lego League team. We are excited to see this team work together on this year’s BioGlo challenge!

The 4/5 class is heading to the Community Sailing Center in Burlington for their first trip of the year. They will learn about sailing on Lake Champlain and about our local watershed!

VDS Parents with children in grades K-8 are invited to join us on Thursday, September 17th @ 6:00 pm, for an evening at school to learn about all the exciting happenings planned for the school year! We will discuss curriculum, class routines and expectations, homework, volunteer opportunities, and more. This is a great opportunity to ask questions that you have about your child’s upcoming year at Vermont Day School.

Note: PreK Teachers will host a separate parent event for PreK families. Stay tuned for more information to come!

All parents who are new to Vermont Day School are welcome and encouraged to join us for New Parent Coffee on Tuesday, August 18th @ 8:30 am for a casual coffee and orientation. Learn about the school year head, ask questions and meet staff and fellow parents. RSVPs to Libby Macdonald (lmacdonald@vtdayschool.org) are appreciated.

Join us on Monday, August 24th @ Shelburne Beach (4:30 – 6:00 pm) for our first all school event to kick off the year!  Families are encouraged to bring a main dish or salad to share, as well as beverages. VDS will provide the paper products and dessert. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets. We will have lawn games available, but ask that children do not swim at this event, as we do not have a lifeguard present. We look forward to starting the school year together with this fun-filled gathering of the VDS community at Shelburne Beach!

 

On Tuesday, August 25th (1:00-2:30 pm), families are welcome to stop by Vermont Day School to say hello to teachers and see your classrooms!  K-8 Students and parents are welcome to stop by your classrooms during the 1:00-2:30 pm window. PreK families are asked to sign up for an individual time (check your inbox for the online sign up). We can’t wait to see you!

 

The countdown to the first day of the 2026-2027 school year is ON and we can’t wait! PreK-3rd students begin the day at 8:15 am. 4th-8th grade students begin the day at 8:00 am.

Students will showcase their talents and interests at our annual Music Cabaret event on Tuesday, June 9th. We are all in for a real treat as our young performers perform songs, magic tricks, gymnastics, dances and more!

All community members are invited to our Class of 2026 Graduation at Meach Cove Gathering Space in Shelburne on Wednesday, June 10th @ 5:30 pm. There will be a reception following the ceremony. We look forward to celebrating our graduates for this important milestone!
