We are looking forward to Grandparent and Special Friends Day on Friday, October 17. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for Grandparents and Special Friends to spend time with their Grandchildren & Special Friends in the classrooms, enjoy coffee, and visit classrooms! Vermont Day School will participate in the Shelburne Halloween Parade on Sunday, October 27th! Come on out to this fun community celebration and join the festivities!
Additionally, we will host a Halloween Parade for parents on Friday, October 31st at VDS. Stay tuned for more details in our weekly newsletter.

The 2025-2026 school year is off to a fabulous start! Our school consists of 72 engaged, curious and motivated students in PreK-8, along with 20 experienced, passionate and dedicated Faculty and Staff members who believe in the Mission of our school. Parents, Grandparents and Friends of Vermont Day School are also integral parts of our school community. We can’t wait for all the learning and growing we will do together this year!
We are so excited to welcome new and returning students to Vermont Day School on Wednesday, August 27th! School begins at 8:00 am for 4th-8th grade and 8:15 am for PreK-3rd grade.
All parents are invited to join us in the VDS Community Room for a coffee and casual conversation with fellow parents and our school administrators. Come after morning drop off and stay for as long as you are able to. We hope to see you there!
Join us on Thursday, September 18 @ 6:00 pm for an informative evening to learn about the engaging curriculum planned for this school year, meet classroom and Specialist teachers and hear about routines and expectations. There will be opportunities for parents to ask questions as well! While we love spending time with your children, this evening is intended for adults.
Ambient Photography will visit VDS on Monday, September 22, to take professional individual, sibling and class photos. Be on the look out for order forms from Ambient Photography.
Our annual all school event, the VDS Jog-a-thon, is coming up on Friday, September 26th. This event is a fundraiser for our outdoor education programs to Shelburne Farms, Hosmer Point and other locations. Parent are invited to join us to cheer on the runners and walkers. The last week of Vermont Day School, also known as Spirit Week, marks a week long celebration of our school year together! It is also the time when we host many of our beloved all school events, including Spring Carnival, Music Cabaret, the Charlotte Beach Picnic, Teacher Stakes, Yearbook Signing, along with our PreK and 8th Grade Graduation! It is truly a time of reflection, celebration, gratitude and community!
For our Spring CLIC Week, Vermont Day School students work with Burton Snowboards on an authentic challenge: How can we attract more young people to the sport of snowboarding? Throughout the week, students worked collaboratively and creatively to come up with solutions to this real world challenge. At the end of the week, they pitched their ideas to Burton!
