February 7 – Winter Open House
Join us on Saturday, February 7th for our Fall Open House. Meet teachers, visit classrooms and learn what makes Vermont Day School unique! We offer two sessions for our Open Houses, based on grade levels for Fall 2026:
- Rising PreK- 3rd Grade: 10:00 am – 11:30 am
- Rising 4th- 8th Grade: 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

Middle School Organizes Winter Clothing Swap
A shout out to our Middle School Citizenship class for organizing our recent Winter Clothing Swap. Families were invited to donate outdoor clothing that their family had outgrown, and come and “shop” for new items for this season. It was a great opportunity for families members to help each other out, while helping out the environment!
December 11 – Winter Concert
All VDS families and guests are invited to our annual Winter Concert at the Shelburne Gym on Thursday, December 11th @ 6:00 pm! Students in PreK-8th grade will perform songs that they have been learning in Music class this year. We look forward to gathering together for this festive celebration of music and the season!
December 13 – Lego League Competition
On Saturday, December 13th, the VDS Robotics team will compete in the FIRST Lego League regional competition in Shelburne. They have been working hard all Fall to prepare for this year’s archeology challenge. Good luck to the team!
December 19 – Gingerbread Festival!
Join us for our annual Gingerbread Festival celebration on Friday, December 19th from 3:00-4:30 pm. Come mingle with fellow parents and view the amazing Gingerbread structures that families have created. This year’s theme is: “We love Vermont!” We look forward to seeing the creativity in action!
Service Learning at the Vermont Youth Conservation Corp
Middle School students traveled to the Vermont Youth Conservation Corp (VYCC) in Richmond, VT for a day of service learning. Students spent the day clearing a field of sweet potatoes and harvesting butternut squash for the VT farm health shares program. The day was full of hands-on-learning, hard work and community building! The Middle School class looks forward to returning to VYCC for more service learning days throughout the school year.
VDS Annual Jog-a-thon!
This year’s annual Jog-a-thon was a very special day at Vermont Day School! Walkers and runners did a phenomenal job showing school spirit, stamina and sportsmanship! Thank you to all the parents and caregivers for cheering on our runners and supporting this important fundraiser for our outdoor education programs. Way to go VDS!
October 3 – First Friday Parent Coffee
All parents are invited to join us in the Community Room for our monthly parent coffee! Enjoy coffee, baked goods and casual conversation with staff members and fellow parents. We hope to see you there after morning drop off!
October 9 & 10 – Parent & Teacher Conferences
We look forward to meeting with parents for our Fall conferences on October 9th (afternoon) and 10th! Please check your email to sign up for conference times. This is a great opportunity to hear about your child’s learning and social-emotional development!
Please note that Thursday, October 9th is a half day for students; dimissal will be at 12:00 (4th-8th) and 12:15 pm (PreK-3rd).
October 17 – Grandparents & Special Friends Day
We are looking forward to Grandparent and Special Friends Day on Friday, October 17. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for Grandparents and Special Friends to spend time with their Grandchildren & Special Friends in the classrooms, enjoy coffee, and visit classrooms! Please see the invite below and be sure to RSVP to Libby Macdonald by October 10 to attend this event (lmacdonald@vtdayschool.org).
October 27 & 31 – Halloween Parades
Vermont Day School will participate in the Shelburne Halloween Parade on Sunday, October 27th! Come on out to this fun community celebration and join the festivities!
Additionally, we will host a Halloween Parade for parents on Friday, October 31st at VDS. Stay tuned for more details in our weekly newsletter.
