VDS PreK-3rd grade students will perform “Peaceful Penguin Village” play on Thursday, April 18th. There are two shows for parents, grandparents and guests @ 8:30 am (K/1 and 2/3) and at 9:30 am (PreK). We can’t wait for this very fun performance! Students are loving practicing the songs and lines from this very sweet show with a wonderful message!

Vermont Day School is pleased to announce the addition of a Merit Scholarship program for prospective students entering 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades in Fall 2024.  One year scholarships, in the amount of $5,000, are awarded to motivated learners with strong academic skills, who exemplify the guiding principles of Vermont Day School.

Merit Scholarship Applications will be considered once all parts of a child’s application to Vermont Day School are complete, including the teacher recommendations and school visit day. Scholarship applications are due March 1st, 2024.  Once complete, parent and student short answer responses should be emailed to Libby Macdonald, Director of Admissions (lmacdonald@vtdayschool.org). Vermont Day School Parents are invited to join us for coffee, baked goods and casual conversation on Friday, March 8th after morning drop-off (8:00/8:15 am). We hope to see you there. All are welcome!

All are invited to join us on Friday’s March 8th @ 2 pm for a showcase of student learning! The K-5 student swill share their projects in STEM, while the 6th-8th grade students will present their science fair experiments. We hope to see you there!

Our 4th/5th grade class is organizing our annual Food Drive to benefit the Shelburne Food Drive from March 18-28. Stay tuned for more information from the students as to what items are needed most by the Food Shelf and how families can help. Last year, the VDS community collected over 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food and hygiene items – let’s see if we can top that this year!

VDS Teachers are looking forward to meeting with parents during conferences to talk about student progress! 4th-8th grade students are invited to join the conferences as well. Portfolios will be coming home before conferences so that parents have an opportunity to view samples of student work and learning progress over time.

The VDS 4th-8th grade will present their production of the musical, Annie, at the the Black Box Theater on Thursday, January 25th (6 pm). Performers have been working hard on the lines, music, choreography, costumes and set, and it is going to be phenomenal. Tickets are $5 at the door. Hope to see you there!

Prospective families with PreK and Elementary age children (K-5) are invited to attend our Winter Open House on Saturday, February 3rd @ 10:00 am. Visit the classrooms, hear about the innovative curriculum and programming, meet teachers and learn about what makes Vermont Day School unique! Prospective families with rising 6th-8th graders are invited to attend our Middle School Open House on Saturday, February 3rd @ 3:00 pm. Come for a student tour of the building, talk to current parents, and meet our outstanding Faculty! Attending the Open House is a great introduction to Vermont Day School! Interested middle school students are also invited to attend VDS for a day on February 13th (9 am – 3 pm). All K-8 students in Vermont are invited to participate in the 2nd annual Vermont Invention Fair! More information can be found here. 

Is your child curious about what is is like to attend Vermont Day School? Now is there opportunity to find out! All rising 6th-8th graders are invited to join our middle school for a school day to experience VDS, attend classes, and meet students and teachers! Limited spaces are available. VDS students have the option of skiing or snowboarding after school at Bolton Valley from January – March. Our first afternoon of the Bolton after school ski/ride program is Thursday, January 4th. If you have questions about this program, please reach out to Sage Bagnato. Think snow!
