Upcoming Events

All parents are invited to join us in the VDS Community Room for a coffee and casual conversation with fellow parents and our school administrators. Come after morning drop off and stay for as long as you are able to. We hope to see you there!

Join us on Thursday, September 18 @ 6:00 pm for an informative evening to learn about the engaging curriculum planned for this school year, meet classroom and Specialist teachers and hear about routines and expectations. There will be opportunities for parents to ask questions as well! While we love spending time with your children, this evening is intended for adults.

Ambient Photography will visit VDS on Monday, September 22, to take professional individual, sibling and class photos. Be on the look out for order forms from Ambient Photography.

Our annual all school event, the VDS Jog-a-thon, is coming up on Friday, September 26th. This event is a fundraiser for our outdoor education programs to Shelburne Farms, Hosmer Point and other locations. Parent are invited to join us to cheer on the runners and walkers. Stay tuned for more information in our weekly newsletter!

All new parents and guardians are invited to join us on Tuesday, August 19th for a casual coffee with fellow parents and VDS staff! This is an opportunity to meet other parents and ask questions before the first day of school. We hope to see you there!

The Vermont Day School Teachers are returning from Summer Vacation on Wednesday, August 20th for the start of our Faculty and Staff inservice week. We will be planning curriculum, organizing classrooms, preparing materials and getting ready for a phenomenal school year together!

All families are invited to come to the Shelburne Beach for a back to school picnic. This is great opportunity to mix and mingle with new and old friends, say hello to teachers and get excited for the year ahead, all in a beautiful setting. Stay tuned for more information via email!

K-8 Students and parents are welcome to stop by your classrooms during the 1:00-2:30 pm window to say hello to teachers and see your classrooms! Please note that these visits are optional. If you have specific questions related to your child, it is best to set up an individual meeting time. 

PreK Families are also invited to stop by your classrooms on August, 26th. Please check you email to sign up for a time.

Camp Like It’s 1999! (Campers entering K-2nd grade). Camp Teacher: Kelly Bouteiller   

Calling all adventurers in Kindergarten through 2nd grade! Get ready to step back in time and experience the simple joys of summer camp, just like kids did in the ’90s. At Camp Like It’s 1999, we’re trading screens for sunshine, gadgets for games, and Wi-Fi for wild imagination!

Our days will be filled with classic summer fun: building forts, creating friendship bracelets, playing capture the flag, and cooling off with epic water games. From tie-dye t-shirts to scavenger hunts and campfire singalongs (minus the fire!). Campers will experience the carefree, unplugged magic of summer’s past. Each day will include: Nature walks and old-school fun in the sun, DIY crafts like lanyard keychains, painted pet rocks, tie-dye t-shirts, and colorful bead bracelets, classic games like kickball, four square, and capture the flag, and splash-tacular fun with sprinklers, water balloons, and slip ‘n slides. Engineering & Art (Campers entering grades 3-5). Camp Teacher: Darcie Rankin 

Calling all creative makers! Art and engineering summer camp is made for you! Each day we will explore a different engineering and science theme and then will use art to infuse it with creativity. Shoe design, catapults, spin art, and so much more. Join Darcie Rankin, STEM educator, for a week chocked full of activities, exploratory play and building with a purpose! Register here. 

 

Families with children entering PreK-3rd grade are invited to the VDS playground for a casual meet and greet! Enjoy a popsicle, play on the playground, share stories about your summer adventures and connect with old and new friends. We hope to see you there!
